Established in 1975, Zoltek entered the carbon fiber business in 1988 and quickly recognized the material's incredible growth potential. Since then, the company has taken steps to reduce material costs and increase capacity by adding manufacturing facilities in the United States, Hungary, and Mexico. Additionally, the company strategically positioned itself to manufacture and sell industrial-grade carbon fiber, allowing the Company to compete with other primary building materials, such as steel and aluminum.
Today Zoltek's carbon fibers are increasing the energy output of wind turbines, helping to create more fuel-efficient vehicles, and lifting other industries to higher levels of performance.

In 2014, Zoltek joined the Toray Group – a relationship that has advanced the company's technology, improved its relationships, and positioned it for further growth and development.
