The New York office opens, the first in the U.S. for Toray.

May 1985

Toray purchases U.S. polypropylene film manufacturer Trea Industries, Inc., which is currently known as Toray Plastics (America), Inc.

December 1989

Toray Resin Company is formed.

April 1991

Boeing Co. begins using TORAYCA® carbon fiber prepreg as the primary structural material for its B777 aircraft.

May 1992

Toray Composites (America), Inc., is formed.

May 1997

Toray Carbon Fibers America, Inc., is formed.

June 2000

Toray Membrane America, Inc., is formed

July 2002

Toray acquires the fluorofiber business of DuPont and establishes Toray Fluorofibers (America), Inc.

June 2006

Toray Membrane USA, Inc. (absorbing the operations of Toray Membrane America, Inc.), is formed.

February 2017

Zoltek Companies, Inc., a manufacturer of large-tow carbon fibers, joins the Toray Group.

April 2017

Toray Composites (America), Inc., and Toray Carbon Fibers America, Inc., are integrated to establish Toray Composite Materials America, Inc.

July 2018

Toray completes purchase of shares in TenCate Advanced Composites Holding B.V., and TenCate Advanced Composites USA, Inc., is established in the U.S.

March 2019

TenCate Advanced Composites changes its business brand name to Toray Advanced Composites. TenCate Performance Composites, a subsidiary of TenCate Advanced Composites, subsequently changes its business brand name to Toray Performance Materials Corporation.
